After 9/11 the U.S. invaded Afghanistan and began sending ‘enemy combatants’ labeled as ‘terrorists’ and ‘the worst of the worst’ to a detention facility in Cuba called Guantanamo Bay. The Guantanamo Lawyers have been fighting for the detainees for nearly 10 years, arguing that many are simply ordinary citizens and their indefinite detention is eroding our own legal system as well as our moral standing within the world.

A lyrical portrait of the marred surfaces and lines of demarcation still present in a Bosnian city many years after the genocide of the early 1990s. The film explores “reminiscent” space and looks at the traces of physical damage left behind. The film also presents a series of fictional diary entries written by a local resident, essentially confined to their living space, juxtaposed with images of scarred and abandoned surfaces.

In the German Democratic Republic children played with dollhouses made to resemble the type of life they would one day grow up to have. Now many of these houses can be found for sale on Ebay or in collectors’ hands.

The dollhouses that survive do so as idealized images of a time and place that no longer exists. Through the words of their past and new owners, “Eigenheim” looks at the people and memories that once dwelled in these spaces to explore the remnants of a lost world.

As physicists are closing in on the particle described as the fundamental building block in our understanding of the Universe, Telcosystems show a far less conclusive particle theory; one that describes a digital world that is unstable and multimodal by nature, only revealing itself through bits and pieces traveling at superluminal velocity. At these speeds even the slightest fluctuation or disturbance unleashes a cascade of shapeshifting sono-optical movements, constantly challenging and redefining the rules by which this pattern-defying universe is pulled from stasis into turbulent chaos.
